That is a fairly
extensive list of features indeed, especially for such a light weight cart golf
bag. I should also mention right away that the Ogio Syncro is a great looking
bag. Golfers are just as vain as the rest of the population and the Syncro
really does look a treat and comes in six different colour combinations. The
different combinations can really make this bag a different beast and change the
feel of it entirely. Options include: Navy/Khaki, Apple, Flame Khaki, Chiaro
Silver, Black and Garnet Bone.

The external ball holder you see in the above picture makes it much easier to
grab a ball when you’ve hacked one “OB” or in the water! I know I hate digging
for a ball in a zip pocket, especially when my nerves are a bit shot from a bad swing.

Ogio have been around for a while now, in
fact its been about 10 years since their entry into the marketplace. They have
released a lot of bags in this time and if you had to mention one defining
factor that was common to them all, you would have to say it was in their
attention to detail. As you can see from the list above, the Syncro continues
this tradition with a very detailed design and many pockets and features. It
includes two large apparel pockets on either side that come in really useful,
and a great big ball pocket right out in front. Those of you who know about the
Zipperless Ball Pocket (ZBP) featured on some other bags may be disappointed
that this feature is not included on the Syncro. The Syncro however is not as
expensive as the Vision SS or the Atlas where this rather cool feature is
available.

Where this bag really does shine is with its fit and overall
finish. You really feel like you are using a quality piece of golfing kit that
isn’t going to break on you a few weeks after you buy it. The zips work smoothly
and the overall design makes a lot of sense with all pockets easily accessible
from the back of your cart. One feature worth mentioning is the molded 3 ball
silo on the front of the bag, a cool feature without a doubt, but is it really
necessary. This is a bag that will be mounted to a cart after all, and most golf
carts come with built in ball holders. I have mentioned this in order to make a
point, because if you can lend any criticism to Ogio and their feature rich golf
bags, it is that they are a bit too packed out with features, that they are
maybe trying a bit too hard to impress and giving away a bit of good old
fashioned practicality along the way.

Innovative? – definitely; well
designed? – without a doubt; Practical? – well, that’s the tricky one. Its a
great bag, but due to the number of pockets, some of them can be a little on the
small and tight side. For instance, the area for the putter is a bit small, and
the bag does twist a little when placed in some carts. It really depends on your
preference, but if you need heaps of room and lots of small and tight pockets
get on your nerves, this may not be the right golf bag for you. One negative is
it does not have an accessible place to hold a beverage without unzipping bag.
Also not many loops to attach gadgets, and still trying to figure out what to do with
towel elastic.

Overall the
Syncro by Ogio is a neat and well designed golf bag that may just be a little
too clever for its own good. If you do find yourself using all 10 pockets then
it may be the perfect bag for you, but if you need a little more room to move in
your bag then maybe you should think again. Golf bags are a little bit like
shoes, and what may be a perfect fit for one person may be uncomfortable and
annoying for another.

How Does It Look

At first glance, it appears similar to any number of other stand bags that can be purchased anywhere around the globe; it contains its backpack strap system (just like all the other average stand bags); and it of course has legs built to keep it standing up when you need to put down the bag (just like all the others); so that from a quick peek it pretty much appears to have most everything that other stand bags have to offer their owners.

This is, however, where the similarities come to a grinding halt. The announcement of a new concept in golf bags was made in the form of a press release which stated that these lightweight carry golf bags are more multipurpose and utilitarian than ever before (this was attributed to the new cart-friendly, 2011 features) with the ability to function equally well as cart bags or carry bags.

Golfer’s Comments

One reviewer’s story: as soon as he opened the box he was amazed at how ‘cool’ the bag actually appeared. Of course he had seen pictures before the actual receipt of the product, but it was obvious now that those pictures did not tell the whole entire story. The colors were in a word, gorgeous. This particular reviewer had the color scheme consisting of gun metal/royal blue/and black.
