Tommy Armour Stand Golf Bags Are A Good Beginners Option
If you are new to golf and need a carry bag, then a stand bag would be best for you. Tommy Armour stand golf bags might be a good choice due to their low cost and light weight.
A stand bag is one that you can carry round the course, but has extendible tripod legs that hold your golf bag upright at an angle when you are not carrying it. This saves you from continually bending down to get your clubs out and replace them. This makes it easy for you access your clubs and other gear.
Lightweight Helps Carrying
The Tommy Armour bags are made from lightweight material that reduces the weight of the bag when being carried, so that you can keep your energy for the round, rather than carrying your clubs around and bending to get them out.
The Tommy Armour Ram stand bag has an eight inch oval top that is divided into five parts so that clubs can be kept apart during storage. It also has full length dividers to keep all the shafts from banging against each other, although not as many as there could be. However, you get what you pay for, in fact probably more, and you cannot expect $200 design from a golf bag at around half the price.
Storage Space Is Also Light
The Ram also has four pockets which is a bit short of what most experienced golfers would be looking for. However, for the average golfer who does not have to carry too much extra equipment around then it is ideal. It is an excellent golf bag for the price. The price depends very much on where you buy it, and that is not the purpose of this review. However, the lack of storage space is probably the Ram’s main weakness.
The 845 Deluxe stand bag comes at nine inches across, and that extra inch makes a lot of difference. If you carry 14 clubs around, you need at least that, though the seven way top with four full length dividers provides ample separation of clubs for the average golfers. Club separation is important because they can get damaged without it. Damage does not always occur during a round, but frequently in transit. If you carry your clubs in the trunk they can get damaged if each club is allowed to continually bang against its neighbors.
The 845 deluxe is also equipped with a putter well and has two more storage pockets than the Ram. That makes six, and is probably sufficient for most amateur golfers’ needs. It would be nice to have more though, but again you must consider the price. If you want a dozen pockets pay for them. You also get a rain hood and sleeve for your umbrella which is pretty good for a stand bag at this price.
The Cooler Looks Good for the Desert
You can also take the option of the Tommy Armour Deluxe stand bag that has a water bottle pocket and a cooler compartment. That’s a must if you are on vacation with foursome in Nevada or Arizona, trying out these desert courses. You can use your water bottle for any drink that you feel you will need.
These stand bags come in a range of popular colors but nothing special. All in all, the Tommy Armour golf stand bags are a good beginner’s option since they are not too expensive and are light enough to be carried round the course without expending too much energy. The pockets and club separation is fine for the average player, and there are no real problems with them.
